[COMICS] Another entry for my (Untitled) Webcomic

Seems I might be liking this webcomic thing…though I haven’t thought of a theme or schedule yet (I’m just drawing them as I think of an idea), but I’m enjoying it, so this might become a regular thing (hopefully!)

This entry is based on a childhood memory ~

//

[COMICS] New (Untitled) Webcomic by me

I followed the suggestion of a friend to make a webcomic, and here is the first strip. I have no idea if my self-deprecating humor will go over well, but I guess we’ll just have to see how it does.

//

Seguí el consejo de un amigo de hacer un webcomic, y pues, aquí está. No sé si mi humor autodestructivo gustará o no, pero supongo que tendré que ver que tal según la opinión pública.

[SKETCHES] Asha (GoT SPOILER!)

[art] Asha (2012.02.07)

A sketch I made of Asha (how I imagine her) from “Game of Thrones” (those who have read past the 1st book will know who she is). I’m on book 5, and though she’s not doing so well there, she’s still one of my favorite women from GoT (though Dany is still my #1)

//

This year I finally managed (right in the nick of time!) to make an Xmas card for 2011. And not just that, but in 3 different languages! So, to all of you who have been so kind to stop by my site at some point, I wish you a very merry Xmas and a 2012 full of great surprises (such as, no, the world won’t end! haha) :)

Note: The Xmas cards have also been added to the Xmas card gallery.

Lost Camera Boy

I started my own Tumblr page about 2 months ago and during that time I came across this really funny and cute post by blogger Andrew McDonald, titled “A PICTORIAL GUIDE TO AVOIDING CAMERA LOSS”. While I don’t know if the guy ever found his camera, he became pretty popular in the web, known as “Lost Camera Boy”. And since I found him to be very cute, I decided to draw him with his camera (that he either got back or got brand new from some one who took pity on him) :)

I’ve put them up in the Galleries (In the Sketchbook and Manga Portraits sections).

I’m thinking if I should email these to Andrew himself…what do you think? It’s not a real camera, but its pretty cool still, right?

NEW: GALLERIES!

Tongiht, in a bout of inspiration, I made 5 new galleries for this site (all in about 3 hours!) – thank you, coffee!

I realized I had all these pics floating around in posts and since I don’t think I’ll get around to making another Flash portfolio anytime soon, I figured it would be best if I catalogued them and gave them all specific galleries. So now you can easily navigate and see my drawings and illustrations in neat, easy to find galleries. I ♥ WordPress! :)

New Page: COMICS!

I finally got around to making a comics’ page! I’ve put the comics I’ve made so far on a detailed list, with English, Spanish and Japanese versions! I had been trying to get this done for months but I finally managed get the free time to work on it. I’m also working on a theme-change and re-edit of the whole site, as well as  Sketchbook and Illustration pages! Your feedback is SUPER IMPORTANT (it helps me improve as an artist and designer!) so please take 1-2 minutes to write back and let me know your thoughts, suggestions or just say hey :)

Digital Sketchbook

Hisashiburi! (“It’s been a while!” in Japanese)…so yeah, I was away on holiday, plus a LONG trip to Europe for, also holiday but also a conference (pics here) and I hadn’t posted any new art, and to be honest well I haven’t really made anything “complete”, but one thing I have been learning recently is to stop worrying about not having “completed” art, or “perfected” works, and just doing it, just gettting it out there. Sometimes we artists worry way too much about getting it right, that we never actually get anything done. This can lead to slumps and even depression.

The joy of being an artist (for me) is to DO art, that is the joy of my life. So, who cares if its not perfect/complete/done/etc?

Ok, a bit of a ramble there, but anyways, here are two sketches, the most up to date art I have done:

I was just sitting one afternoon in my (tiny Japanese) apartment having tea and the light hit my glass teapot so nicely I just HAD to draw it…I was having a very nice vanilla tea I had bought in Switzerland this past summer.

-*-

This I made literally hours ago, in class, while listening to my teacher talk to some guests students from Germany that we are currently hosting at our school. Guess this is what was actually on my mind at the time *smirk* ;)

-*-

Actually, when I spoke to one of the guest students, she told me that she did a project where she made herself draw one picture every morning, and then after she had a bunch done, she published a book with the drawings. She said that she realized she wanted to be a “drawer” (that’s the word they use in Germany, at least in her school, to refer to artists whose main focus is to draw, as opposed to paining), and that if she wanted to be such, she should really draw everyday! So she did that project…and it got me thinking, hm, well I think I will try it. That, plus I still want to work on my webcomic about Kyoto, but that one will have to wait till I’m done with my Graduation Project (I’ll talk about that another time…)

Peace! ~
